"And He Gave Thanks"
“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever.”
When we consider the last days of Jesus, we should be humbled that He chose to give thanks. It is encouraging, humbling, and even a little convicting to read the wide variety of situations that Jesus gave thanks in. (Before meals, before miracles, to encourage others, to show gratitude towards the disciples when they carried out the Fathers will as Jesus had taught them) We see that Jesus didn’t just give thanks during the good, but He also did during times of exhaustion and grief as well. It wasn’t based off of joyous circumstance, rather it was a constant attitude of showing His close relationship to the Father.
In scripture, we find that Christ’s life was filled with similar emotions and experiences that each of us have seen weigh down our praise and make it difficult for us to find things worth giving thanks for. But, having a Christ centered mindset can help us be able to truly give thanks in ALL CIRCUMSTANCES as we follow God’s will for our lives.
